Eagle Golf Update - March

March Eagle Golf Update

I would like to start this update by welcoming in the new captains for 2018 fresh from their announcement at the club AGM. I’m sure Mike Jane and Alexei are looking forward to their year in office and myself and all the golf team wish them all the best for their year ahead.

As I write this it is important to remember that it is only 30 days to the start of the US Masters! I know it doesn’t feel like it as we are still recovering from the Beast from the Easts visit, which brought snow drifts and freezing temperatures for a week or so. Here is what the course looked like during this time.

The snow we had is melting very quickly and a reasonable dry period will see the course back to where it was before the cold weather struck.

It was good to see so many of you at the renewal weekend, we had a really good turn out of members collecting their packs, and discussing membership and our plans for the coming year. I would like to give a special mention to both the Captain and President for attending on both days, so thank you Rob and Mike!

For those of you who couldn’t make it to the weekend your membership pack will be in the golf lodge until you are ready to collect them.

Over the course of the winter I have had meetings with Roger Newbold, a 7 day eagle member, who has been very helpful giving me feedback and general information around the Eagle course. We will now make this a regular monthly meeting with myself, Roger and the Academy Manager, Amanda Bott. So if you have any questions or queries you can bring these up with either Roger Amanda or myself.

It is also important to keep up to date with course restrictions in this time. We limit the use of buggies and trollies in the wetter months to help protect the course from damage, so it is imperative that these restrictions are adhered to.

Course work has been ongoing during this terrible weather with all the bunkers have been edged and rotovated and an application of lawn sand was applied to all the greens before the cold spell to help with disease prevention and moss control.

As it is coming into the start of the season I’m sure you will all be using the new software provider to book your tee times. For any of you who haven’t used it or who have forgotten how, please get in touch with the lodge and we can help you with any issues.

Don’t forget it is the Captains drive in on Saturday 24th March, so why not come up to the Clubhouse and welcome the new captains in in style!

I look forward to seeing you all at the club in the coming weeks
